Self-care ideas while going through Infertility.

The word self-care gets thrown around quite often and can mean different things to everyone. I interpret self-care as putting yourself first so you can be the best version of yourself. Going through infertility is all-consuming, and you must make time for yourself so you don’t lose yourself.

I have included various ideas to explore for inspiration:

  • Take a course. Check out your community education website for ideas e.g. Art classes, photography, writing, home & garden.

  • Organize your messy drawers. Buy a Marie Kondo book or binge-watch the home edit on Netflix for inspiration!

  • Try acupuncture

  • Get your nails done

  • Get a facial or massage

  • Get a new book and carve out time each day to read it.

  • Try a new hobby: make candles, make pottery, learn to knit, learn calligraphy, do a puzzle, and try adult coloring.

  • Experiment with essential oils.

  • Check out coursera.org for a variety of university classes to sign up for.

  • Learn a new language through Duolingo.

  • Organize your closet, go through your old clothes and donate.

  • Choose a new podcast or audible book to listen to while folding laundry.

  • Cook a healthy meal

  • Experiment with meditation (apps specific to fertility: circlebloom, expectful, insight timer, headspace, mindful IVF, soundcloud)

  • Make a vision board of your life (career, family, goals, etc.)

  • Take a walk in nature

  • Watching funny youtube videos

  • Being with friends

Bottom line: Make time for yourself. You deserve it. And you need it!
